"mega888" is a name, not a website. No reputable source says who runs the platform, no site is designated its official home, and the domain you would guess has redirected to a Taiwanese shopping site in archive captures from 2017 and 2026. When players type the name, what they are really choosing is an agent: where to download the game, take a player ID and buy credit.
This is how one of those agent sites went from close to zero daily clicks to 3.16 million clicks and 11.8 million impressions in a single six-month Search Console view, with the name itself, on its own, at an average position of 1.5. It is also how it ended: Google removed the site in April 2026, and the record shows that too.

The brief
A Mega888 agent site serving Malaysian players: the download, the player ID, deposits and withdrawals, and the support that goes with them.
Online gambling is illegal in Malaysia — the Court of Appeal confirmed in October 2023 that it is an offence under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953. COA-2023 We scope work in prohibited markets only with the legal position documented in writing first, and it is documented here for the same reason. Malaysia
Paid search and paid social are closed to a site like this. Google Ads does not allow online gambling advertising in Malaysia, GADS-2026 Meta lists Malaysia as a market where gambling ads cannot run at all, META-2026 and a real-money app cannot be distributed through Google Play there. GPLAY-2026 That leaves organic search and the agent's own social and messaging channels — and for a player who types the name into Google, the result page is the shop window.
The approach was the one the numbers below reward: own the queries with the highest intent first — the name, and what players want to do with it — before competing for the broadest ones.
Who competes for "mega888"
The name has no owner in search. Every agent site answers the same query, alongside look-alike domains built on the same name, and with the paid channels closed they all compete for the same organic results.
- No official siteNo reputable source names who runs Mega888. The domain you would guess, mega888.com, redirects to an unrelated Taiwanese shopping site in archive captures from 2017 and 2026.
- Look-alike domainsThe name is repeated across many domains, dressed up with “original”, “ios” or a fresh extension.
- Agents, all answering one queryEvery agent site wants the same player: the one who has typed the name and wants the game now.
What players type after the name
Modifiers from Bing autosuggest for Malaysia (en-MY), 5 October 2026. Google's own autocomplete returned almost nothing for the name from a Malaysian connection the same day.
Google's own autocomplete offers almost nothing after the name, checked from a Malaysian connection on 5 October 2026. Whatever the reason, the bare name carried most of this site's clicks, as the second export below shows.
Where it started
Close to zero. The six-month view opens on 21 October 2025 with no clicks at all for four days; the first arrive on 25 October.
By 10 November — the 21st day in the view — daily clicks were at the level they would average for the rest of the window. They slipped for two weeks in late November, were back by 4 December, and from then on no day fell below about three-quarters of that level.
What we did
Five moves, in the order we ran them. Nothing in the list is unusual. The order is the part most programmes get wrong.
Phase 1 — FoundationCrawl, render and index before anything is written
Technical foundation first
A crawl and rendering audit of the game lobby and category pages, indexation controls for the long tail of game URLs, and a sitemap and internal-link structure that gets new pages indexed in hours rather than weeks. On a site whose pages answer narrow, time-sensitive questions, a page that takes a fortnight to be indexed has missed most of the demand it was written for.

- 02Indexation controlsFor the long tail of game URLs
- 03Sitemap and internal linksSo a new page is found the day it goes live
- 04Indexed in hoursNot weeks — so new pages could earn while they were new
Phase 2 — The nameMega888 plus every modifier, owned
Brand SERP
Owned pages for every brand-plus-modifier query — login, app, bonus terms, support — each with structured data. For an agent site the brand is the platform's name, shared with every competitor, so the work is to be the page that answers what the player wants to do next. Filtered to that one query, "mega888" averaged position 1.5 with a 54% click-through rate for as long as the site was in Google's results; the export is under What happened.

Each page carries structured data. The query column shows the modifier family, not exact query strings.

Phase 4 — AuthorityEditorial links, disclosed by URL
Links
Editorial placements on regional media and entertainment domains with real in-country traffic, every URL disclosed to the client before it went live. This is the pillar the other Malaysian case left out by design, and the reason the two are worth reading together. iGaming Link Building

What happened
The first export, at the top of the page, is the whole site: 3.16 million clicks and 11.8 million impressions from Google organic, search type Web, at an average click-through rate of 26.8% and an average position of 4.1, from 21 October 2025 to 14 March 2026.

Derived from the export's totals — 3.16m clicks and 11.8m impressions over the 145 days from 21 October 2025 to 14 March 2026 — not read off the chart.
Three things on that chart are worth reading closely, because the line on its own misleads on each.
- 10 Nov 2025The stepClicks rose about 3.2 times in a day on almost unchanged impressions — the same day the "mega888" query stepped up.
- 19 Nov – 3 DecThe dipImpressions fell by about a third and clicks with them, while click-through held. Back at the run-rate on 4 December.
- 7 and 11–14 Jan 2026The burstImpressions jumped to as much as 19 times a normal day while clicks held steady, so CTR and average position dipped for those days. No day is missing, so this is not a reporting gap, and it does not appear in the "mega888" query.
Read off the chart. About 2.8 million of the 11.8 million impressions are the burst's excess over a normal day — an estimate, scaled from the line to the export's total.
The second export is the head term on its own: the query "mega888", in Search Console's 16-month view. It records 2.22 million clicks and 4.1 million impressions, at a 54% click-through rate and an average position of 1.5.

Daily levels are estimates read off the chart and scaled to the export's totals; dates are good to about a day.
The step on 10 November is where the case turns. That day the site's position for "mega888" improved and its click-through rate on the query went from about 13% to nearly 50%, on the same impressions. That is what taking the first result for a navigational query looks like, and site-wide clicks stepped up the same day.
About 1.95 million of the 2.22 million clicks fall inside the six-month window, estimated from the chart: roughly three in every five clicks the whole site earned in it, from one query. That is the result. It is also a concentration, and the rest of the record is about what that means.
A 26.8% click-through rate at an average position of 4.1 is characteristic of a query mix weighted toward branded and high-intent terms: players who already know what they are looking for, and find the site's pages first. Both site-wide figures also understate a normal day. The January burst added impressions without clicks and dragged both averages the wrong way; outside it, site-wide click-through ran at around 40%, estimated from the chart. The head term, across its whole record, ran at 54%.
Where it ended
In the first week of April 2026, Google removed the site from its results. The query export shows it: daily clicks for "mega888" fell from about 12,000 to nothing between 2 and 6 April, the last impressions were recorded on 12 April, and from then to the end of the view in October the query records nothing at all.
- 21–24 Oct 2025Nothing yet
- 25 Oct 2025 – 5 Apr 2026163 days in Google's results
- 6 Apr – early Oct 2026Removed: no clicks, no impressions
Milestones are estimates: the daily line scaled to the export's 2.22m total. The 16-month view runs to early October 2026.
The figures on this page are what the site earned while it was in Google's results: 163 days from the first click to the last. They are not a forecast of what it would have earned after, and nothing here pretends otherwise.
A case that ends at its best day is not a case.
What the ending changes is how to read the result. A site that takes three in five of its clicks from one name, in a market where the activity is illegal and the paid channels are closed, has built something valuable and exposed in equal measure. That is the risk the written legal position is there to put on the table before any work starts.

What we will not claim
That 4.1 is the rank for "mega888"
Site-wide, the average position was 4.1: a mean across every query and page the site appeared for, weighted by impressions, and made worse by the January burst. For "mega888" on its own, Search Console records 1.5.
Ten queries at positions 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 7 and 8 average out at 4.1 — and none of them is at 4.
Illustrative: Search Console's figure is weighted by impressions across every query and page, but the averaging works the same way.
That 11.8 million impressions were 11.8 million searches by players
Roughly 2.8 million of them are the excess from five days in January — 7 January and 11 to 14 January — when impressions surged and clicks did not move, estimated from the chart. Whatever caused the surge, it brought no clicks with it.
That this is generic casino traffic
The click-through rate says the opposite, and the second export confirms it: about three in five of the site's clicks in the window came from the platform's name alone.
That on-page work did it alone
It did not. Link building was one of the five pillars from the start: editorial placements on regional media and entertainment domains with real in-country traffic, every URL disclosed to the client before it went live. What a Malaysian site earns with link building ruled out entirely is a separate case, with its own export. 0 to 1,000 clicks without backlinks
That it is a full six months of data
The report is set to Search Console's six-month view, but the record in it starts on 21 October 2025: 145 days from the first plotted day to the last, 141 of them with clicks. The totals are what those days produced.
That it lasted
It did not. Google removed the site from its results in the first week of April 2026, a little over five months after the first click. The numbers above stand for the period they cover, and no longer.
What transfers
The same method in the same order — technical foundation, brand SERP, local-language architecture, links, monthly reporting — is what we run for casino and sportsbook brands in the UK, the Nordics, DACH, Benelux, Italy and Spain, with one addition: every page is written to that market's advertising rules. Every market we cover
- 01Technical foundation
- 02Brand SERP
- 03Local-language architecture
- 04Links
- 05Monthly reporting
In regulated markets, one addition: every page is written to that market's advertising rules.
One more thing transfers, from the way this case ended. A channel that rests on one name, in a market where the activity is prohibited, should be planned as if it can disappear in a week, because this one did.
Frequently asked questions
Three weeks to reach it and six to hold it. The first clicks came on 25 October 2025; daily clicks reached their long-run level on 10 November, dipped for two weeks in late November, and held from 4 December to the end of the six-month window.
Near enough, for as long as it was in Google's results. Filtered to that one query, Search Console records an average position of 1.5 and a click-through rate of 54% — 2.22 million clicks from the platform's name alone — until Google removed the site in April 2026.
Because the site-wide figure averages in every other query the site appeared for, and five days of January impressions that brought no clicks. Outside that burst, site-wide click-through ran at around 40%, estimated from the chart.
Yes. Editorial placements on regional media and entertainment domains with real in-country traffic, every URL disclosed to the client before it went live. For what the same market produces with links ruled out, see the on-page-only Malaysian case. 0 to 1,000 clicks without backlinks
Google removed it from its results. Clicks for "mega888" fell from about 12,000 a day to nothing between 2 and 6 April, and the last impressions were on 12 April. The case reports what the site earned while it was in Google's results, and shows where the record ends.
A burst of impressions on 7 January and from 11 to 14 January, up to about 19 times a normal day, while clicks held steady. Click-through rate and average position dipped for those days as a matter of arithmetic. No day is missing, so it is not a reporting gap, and it does not appear in the "mega888" query on its own.
Both exports are shown unedited: the six-month view of the whole site at the top of the page, and the 16-month view of the query "mega888" under What happened. Client-side figures — registrations, deposits, cost per acquisition — stay under NDA and are not published here in any form.
